Soft Acrobatics

Welcome to Soft Acrobatics

Soft Acrobatics, also known as Acrodance, is a dynamic practice that combines elements of gymnastics, breakdance, capoeira, and contemporary dance. It encompasses:

  1. the foundational layer: Here we develop the strength, flexibility and coordination needed for a safe exploration of Acrobatics.

  2. the technical layer: We focus on learning specific moves like the handstand, arching acrobatics - such as the Macaco or the Front Walkover - but also different rolls and much more.

  3. the creative layer: this layer emphasizes exploration and expression through movement - either by combining the learnt moves to sequences, or through open exploration similar to the improvisation practice from Dance.

In my sessions, I encourage openness and creativity, allowing participants to explore innovative combinations from these diverse disciplines. The training aims to open up new perspectives on how we can move in a dynamic, fun way.

I offer more beginner focused classes that are open for all levels as well as intermediate classes for participants with prior Movement experience (Dance, Martial Arts, Gymnastics) looking to expand their movement vocabulary.

Developing my own style

Throughout the years, I’ve been moving in many different ways, trying out different disciplines and different styles of movement. Without having the intention to arrive at a specific place, I am looking to refine and explore. In this video you can see some of my more recent sketches.

Is Soft Acrobatics suited for Adults?

Soft Acrobatics is particularly suitable for adults, offering a gentle alternative to traditional gymnastics. Unlike standard gymnastics, this practice minimizes joint impact and reduces the risk of injury as it features continuous contact with the ground, prioritizing weight shifts between feet and hands over high-impact jumps or flips. This approach not only makes the activity safer but also ensures that it remains enjoyable and accessible for all skill levels.

To ensure a safe and fun practice I make sure to build a foundation of strength and conditioning drawing from many years of experience in the field.
